Splash Island Set to Open May 25 With Grand Opening
"Drenching"; Disney Channel Star to Be on Hand

Massive New Family Play Structure Will Dump 1,000 Gallons of Water
Every 10 Minutes All Summer Long


HOT SPRINGS, AR (May 6, 2013) – Magic Springs Water and Theme Park will dedicate its newest attraction, Splash Island, on Saturday, May 25 with a "Grand Drenching" Ceremony featuring Disney Channel star Tiffany Thornton, park management and area VIPs. Radio Disney will provide fun and family entertainment for the dedication and drenching ceremony which will take place at 10:30 a.m. with the water park opening at 11 a.m. Thornton, an actress, comedian and singer, is best known for her starring role as Tawni Hart on the Disney Channel Original Series, Sonny with a Chance and So Random!.

"This should be a really fun day for the whole family," said Steve Honeycutt, general manager of the park. "Combine Tiffany, the Radio Disney performers, a whole lot of water and few surprises and we’ll have a memorable opening for our new attraction."

"Splash Island will stand more than four stories tall and feature 10 colorful water slides, an enormous tipping bucket that dumps 1,000 gallons of water every 10 minutes and more than 200 ways to get wet and stay cool this summer. With slides, bubbler jets, water wheels, tipping buckets, water curtains, net climbs, pools and waterfalls.

"With the addition of Splash Island, our guests will have another new way to be active, stay cool, and have fun as a family," said Honeycutt. "In addition to the water play elements, this major water park addition will include new seating, shade and room to relax." Guests will be able to relax on the ample new lounge deck surrounding Splash Island.

The Splash Island expansion is part of an integrated plan to continue park improvements designed to focus on families and is the fourth major attraction to be constructed in the water park since 2007.

Season Passes can be purchased at Walgreen's only at a price of $69.99, a $5 discount, in the month of May. The Season Pass includes in-park discounts and opportunities to gain other perks, such as a free friend ticket when the Pass is processed at the park by May 31. Tickets may be purchased for one-day visits for as low as $29.99 for children and $39.99 for adults.

Concert Series Begins With Collective Soul


The 2013 Concert Series begins the same evening at 8 p.m. featuring Collective Soul. The band shot to international fame with their 1993 release, "Hints, Allegations and Things Left Unsaid," and their mega No.1 hit "Shine." The album was a collection of Ed Roland's demos that spread quickly through the college underground circuit and caught fire, going on to achieve Double-Platinum status.

Collective Soul, released the self-titled "Collective Soul," in 1995, which contained four outstanding singles (three of which reached #1), "December," "The World I Know," "Where The River Flows," and "Gel." The album went Triple-Platinum and spent 76 weeks on the Billboard Top 200 charts. Other hits include the No.1 hit song, "Heavy" and "Perfect Day," a duet with Sir Elton John.

The concert series will run most Saturdays through August 31. Next up on June 1 is Night Ranger. All concerts are included with a Season Pass or general admission ticket with free lawn seating on a first-come, first-served basis at Timberwood Amphitheater. In addition, reserved seating may be purchased for $10 or $5.

"There is no greater entertainment value in the region than a Magic Springs season pass," said Honeycutt. "You can enjoy the park all season for less than $4 a week."
